You will learn how to thread your machine, wind the bobbin, adjust the tension, learn the functions and how to operate your machine safely. Upon completion of this class, you will have the knowledge and confidence using your sewing machine to start on your first sewing project. 

Be sure your machine is in good working condition for this class! 

Make an apron, pajama pants or fashion vest by joining a beginner’s sewing class after completing this class.

size 12 basic needle,

1 small spool of “All Purpose” white thread.

Beginners Sewing-Machine Mastery Class $39

Have you ever wanted a mannequin in YOUR body shape? Now you can without paying hundreds of dollars!  Join this class creating a mannequin just your size and shape with a t-shirt, Duck tape, plastic wrap and stuffing. Bring a friend to pair up with and let’s get started.

 

Supplies:

  • Form fitted t-shirt (it will be cut)

  • 2-3 rolls of Duck tape

  • Plastic wrap

  • Scissors (not your fabric scissors!)

  • Cardboard (big enough for your body circumference)

  • Black marker

  • 2 Old pillows or a couple bags of stuffing

Make Your Own Mannequin Class $39

This is an open sewing class allowing you freedom to work on a project of your choice (approved by instructor according your sewing skills). You will be guided thru the entire process of your project at your own pace by learning to read & understand patterns, make pattern adjustments, measuring and fitting the body, cutting & sewing techniques, utilizing sewing tools, time saving tips and tricks to sewing and most of all having fun. All 5th Saturday workshops are free.  This is a fun time to build camaraderie with other sewing enthusiasts while creating a new garment for the season.

Learn sewing vocabulary and techniques as you create a pull on skirt with your choice of three different lengths. You will learn how to read pattern instructions and what the symbols mean. You will gain an understanding of fabric layouts with a lot of tips and tricks to cutting, pinning, ironing and sewing techniques to build your sewing skills. Gain the confidence to create skirts for any occasion or holiday that any sewist would be proud to wear! Important: bring your machine, make sure it is in good working condition and you are confident in threading your machine and loading the bobbin.

Beginners Sewing-How to Make a Skirt $59

 Sewing on zippers is a quick application any beginning sewer needs to know. Did you know there are many different ways to insert a zipper? In this class you will learn three basic ways to insert a zipper, different types of zippers and when to use them.   Bring your machine and make sure it is in good working condition and you are confident in threading your machine and loading the bobbin.

 

Supplies:

purchase the special invisible zipper foot to fit your machine,

two 7” zippers,

one 12” separating zipper (any color),

one 12” invisible zipper,

Beginners Sewing-Pillowcase Apron Class $39

Do you spend a lot of money on alterations hemming jeans and pants? Learn how to save those really cool jean hems with a special technique the dry cleaners don’t know about! You will follow a step-by-step guide to learn the special technique on how to shorten your jeans and keep the original hem. Learn how to fit and mark the hem quickly with shortcuts to hemming the jeans in 30 minutes.  This class will pay for itself on your next alteration bill.  Bring a pair jeans to be shortened or old pair to practice with. Bring your machine and make sure it is in good working condition and you are confident in threading your machine and loading the bobbin.

In this three-hour class you will learn how to measure for a pillow cover, lay out fabric, pin, mark fabric, cut and sew together a pillow cover.   Discover the many tips and tricks to help you in your sewing adventure. Here is a list of basic sewing supplies you will need as you begin your sewing journey. I recommend to invest in good quality tools that will last a lifetime of sewing.  I have had many of my tools for 30 years and can't live without them! Love the new ergonomic designs on several of the tools.
